Establishing Grounds For Divorce

So-called “no-fault” divorces are more common than ever; since first being introduced in California in 1970, no-fault divorces have become the most popular form of divorce, offered in some form or another in every US state. Unlike older forms of divorce, no-fault divorces do not require a show of wrong-doing from either member of the marriage to be granted. They do not require the petitioning spouse to show that there has been a breach of the marital contract, meaning that the rationale for a divorce can be as simple as “we don’t love each other anymore.”
